~This is my take on strip-piecing and the scrapbag quilt. It is actually a trashcan quilt. I had been working on a series of Fragments and glanced at the scraps in the trashcan. They all seemed to be in the same color family and the glittering jewels of color in the trash beaconed to me - we're not trash, we're treasure. I made it a challenge to a piece of use every fabric that was in the trash. It's all about proportion and balance. It's a game I play with myself, getting weird fabric to work together by balancing the color, pattern & amount use.
I play that game in life too, seeing what my day has to offer and figuring out how to balance the good with the bad so that it all flows well and has a positive outcome. Obviously I am trying to control the outcome, but sometimes, given what you have to work with, coming up with a positive result is darn difficult. Not all of the result are successful, but at least I tried and I can feel good about that.
