~ I have been wanting to add paper to quilts for some time now and when I found these old Flashcards on a teaching trip to Florida, I knew that this card would be perfect on a Journal Quilt. I even got to use the copper rivets...a mix of texture and materials - a preview of the mixed media quilt that has been on the back-burner. I have all these ideas but not enough time to experiment. I always tend towards the safe solution and I really want to try the new....feel the fear and do it anyway. It's all about overcoming that fear......fear of being wrong, fear of messing up, feel of looking ridiculous, dumb, weird. This trip to Florida was all about fear. It was the first time I would be teaching where I didn't know anyone who would be there. There was no one there that I knew, no one that already liked me. I would have to start from scratch and put myself out there and hope that they would like me. It just dawned on me that even though they don't know me personally, a lot of women know me through my art and my website, so they DO already know me and like me or they wouldn't be there in my class. I have discovered yet another benefit to creating and sharing my art.
